What is Colon Hydrotherapy or (AKA) colonics?
Colon hydrotherapy is the gentle infusion of water into the colon to cleanse the colon of accumulated waste material, gas, mucous, undigested foods and toxins. This helps improve muscle tone of the colon, faciliating the natural peristalic action necessary for efficient removal of waste and absorption of nutrients.
How is a colonic given?
Here at Origins a colonic treatment is given in a private spa suite with a trained colon hydrotherapist, who fully appreciated the sensitivity of the procedure, thereby helping you, the client, feel at ease with the process. You,the Client, will lie comfortably on a table, fully draped during the course of the treatment. The therapist will gently insert a disposible hygienic speculum into your rectum. Water flows into the colon via a small water feed tube attached to the speculum, and waste leaves the colon through a larger evacuation tube, where it is emptied directly into the sewer system. Because of this "closed" system there is virtually no odor, mess, or fuss and privacy and dignity is not compromised. A series of water fills and releases takes place in each treatment. The therapist remains in the room throughout the procedure, working with you on various breathing and massage techniques to enhance the cleansing process.
Are colonics painful in any way?
Treatment is generally free of discomfort although some slight abdominal cramping can occur as the muscles contract to release the water, waste and gas. This cramping is no different from what is felt when evacuating the bowel under normal circumstances, however can be more pronounced as several eliminations often take place during the treatment. The discomfort is usually easily tolerated and not long lasting. We may also use Young Living Essential oils on your abdomen and/or feet which many clients have reported a positive effect. Overall, the process is quite mild and gentle, resulting in a light empty feeling.
Will I lose weight?
Although Colonics should not be untertaken solely as a weight loss technique, some clients do report the benefits of some weight loss due to ridding the body of excess poundage in the form of accumulated waste. Also, when the colon is clean and able to function efficiently, your digestion, absorption of nutrients and metabolism can also improve significantly.
How many colonics will I need?
As you may have already predicted, that varies from person to person and their personal health issues and goals. On average a series of three colonics within a 2 week period can be exceptionally helpful for reaching any wellness goal. This will be discussed during your appointment to better guide to through your wellness plan.
Do you have to prepare for your colonic?
For the average person, you may do nothing before your first appointment. We can then assess how your current lifestyle and eating habits may be impacting your colon health and overall wellness. If you suffer from moderate or severe constipation or diarrhea, it is highly advisable to speak with the therapist before your first appointment. Reccommendations will be made at that time to ensure your most effective and comfortable experience.
How much is a colonic?
Your first Colonic which includes a consulation prior to your colonic and afterwards is $75/hour. Leave 1 1/2 hours alotted for your first appointment. Appointments thereafter are $65/hour.

I would like to do a series of colonics, do you offer a discount if I pre-pay for a series?
Yes, you must talk to the therapist to see what type of series will best suit your needs and discounts may apply. We run promotions and specials from time to time and also give out referral coupons that may be redeemed at any time for your treatment.
